I my last seminar in CO, I asked a question that made me rethink what students want to learn.
I asked "What would you like to work on today, strength OR stretch training???" And to my surprise, they asked for stretching!!!
I would have thought with a room full of Black Belts that they would prefer to double their power, but NOOOO.....they wanted to double their flexibility.
So I dug down deep and taught a stretching drill that I learned many years ago that no one had seen before.....not even the Master of the school.
I remember the 1st time I taught this at a seminar. I was opening up for a Senior Master Fred Bagley before he took over. Afterwards he shook my hand and said 'That was GREAT!! Good job."
So I demonstrated this with a young black belt at my seminar who had good flexibility, and within 3 minutes of working with him on it he had almost added 2 feet to his hamstring stretch.
I included the footage in Vol. 3 of this course because it was LIVE.
Not only did some people DOUBLE their flexibility with just this one stretch.
Several students with injuries came up to me and said they felt better and have no more pain. One Black belt with serious leg surgery said he feels better then ever before.

Part one consisting of 2 DVD's will be what some call "Passive Stretching" which might be more familiar to you.
These drills increase flexibility through movement, hitting all the major muscle and joints. You will learn dynamic movements used by Hindu wrestlers as well as some of the toughest athlete's in the world.
Passive Stretching has Value in Two ways
1- As a rehabilitative method. To stretch out scar tissue and promote blood flow.

Iso-Active Stretching is by far the most effective and safe method for increasing the range of motion of your joints.
Before I explain how isometrics can be used for stretching and why it is so effective, allow me first to explain the difference between standard stretching and isometric stretching.
One involves stretching; the other doesn’t – at least not in the usual sense.
Stretching in the traditional manner most of us grew up with and some still use is generally static in nature.
By this I mean you place a muscle in an elongated position, past it’s usual comfort zone and slowly stretch or pull the fibres apart and then stay there.
It usually hurts just a little. This lack of movement means it’s static – you just hold a position for say 30 seconds. Then do something else.
The fibres of your muscles are slowly pulled apart and weakened increasing your flexibility and range of motion.
This can often lead to weak unstable joints that are prone to injury, especially around the knees and lower back.
Without the tight strength of your supporting muscles, tendons and ligaments is all to easy to pop out a joint or strain it when in a weak position.
That isn’t what Iso-Active Stretching is about.
Iso-Active Stretching is based on becoming stronger in those weak positions, having firm solid and tight tendons and ligaments capable of contracting against great force but still being flexible.

From little motions of the head and neck, to very powerful forces such as those generated in a heavy football tackle or a jiu-jitsu throw....not to mention punching and kicking.
The spinal muscles have to be kept strong for they are involved in practically every motion, from throwing and twisting to bending and lifting.
The stronger your spinal muscles, the better you will be at practically ANY athletic motion you can name.
Given this, it's ironic that this Back Strength Training is overlooked by many martial artist.
Back Strength Training (BST) can eliminate a host of problems associated with abuse to the human body.
The drills I show will help realign the vertebrae into the correct position responsible for proper posture.
Even the bones will become stronger over time.
The disks in your back are made of cartilage, and like all cartilage, they have very little blood flow.
Instead they receive nutrition from liquids in the joints, called Synovial fluid.
Because it's not associated with the circulation, fresh fluid can only reach the joints when those joints move around.
BST removes waste and sends plenty of nutritious fluid to the disks, healing them, preventing degeneration and ensuring maximum health.......
These types of exercises will make ALL your athletic movements more POWERFUL!!!
